Project Description: The Calgary Police Service has incorporated Augmented Reality (AR) murals into their “Sacred Space” at headquarters, a sanctuary designed for trauma victims. In this safe environment, artist Kalum Teke Dan painted a full-wall mural featuring three distinct elements, each animated uniquely to enhance the viewer’s experience. One highlight is the “Say Their Name” Mural, dedicated to the missing and murdered Indigenous women. Despite a limited budget, we effectively captured the mural’s emotional depth by utilizing spoken word and animated text. This cost-efficient solution ensured a powerful and captivating mural experience, honoring the voices and stories it represents.
